China Reportedly Devises Wireless City Plan for 10 Major Cities

It is reported that the Chinese government has devised a wireless city plan for ten major cities, according to a July 30 Sina Tech report citing an expert consultant from the People's Government of Beijing Municipality. The ten cities included in the wireless city plan are Beijing, Tianjin, Qingdao, Wuhan, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Yangzhou.

Initially, large-scale wireless network rollout will begin with Beijing. It is projected that all urban areas and suburban areas of the city will be covered by the wireless broadband network by year-end 2010.
